Youth Ministry

Peace offers an active Youth Group (grades 6-12). At Peace your youth will find opportunities for Christian formation, service and fun! We also participate in Virginia Synod Youth events as well as the ELCA National Youth Gathering.

Your Youth’s Safety

At Peace we take the safety of all people, but especially the safety and well-being of children and youth, seriously. All volunteers and staff who work with your youth have been trained and vetted through the Safe Gatherings program. For more information about this important training commitment please click on the button.

Pre-Confirmation

The 4th and 5th graders meet every Sunday after worship for 45 minutes to an hour to learn about God’s love for them and others through Scripture and Lutheran tradition.

Confirmation

Youth who have demonstrated their readiness to affirm their faith in public are invited to the confirmation program which meets on the first and third Sunday evenings from 7:00-8:00pm to engage in Christian fellowship with each other, to explore God's word, deepen faith, and participate in community service events.

Youth Group

The 6th through 12th graders gather on the second and fourth Sundays (see church calendar for details) to discover how God is active in all aspects of their life, to grow in His love and enjoy the presence of Christ in their daily life.

Virginia Synod Youth Events

Peace Lutheran participates and supports the mission of the Virginia Synod Youth Ministry. From the Virginia Synod’s Youth Events website: “[The Virginia synod offers year round events designed] to provide faith sharing and faith nurturing relationships between adults and youth, strengthen congregations in their faith formation ministries with young people, call out youth to be leaders and strong disciples in God’s work of bringing salvation and reconciliation to the world and encourage all young people to discern their calling in God’s glorious realm. This is our mission.”

From the ELCA’s National Youth Gathering website: “The Gathering’s mission of faith formation in young people is the hub from which all things come for MYLE, the tAble and the Gathering. Our goal is to create environments and opportunities for faith formation through worship, interactive learning, Bible study, service and fellowship. While some of the experiences can be replicated at home, some are unique and special to the Gathering because of the size and scope of this ministry.
