Come as You Are
Worship with at 11:15 on Sunday am via zoom

Please wear a mask, wash your hands, practice social distancing and do not be afraid. God is with us.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7)

worship at peace lutheran church
(when not under restrictions)

As a faith community we gather for worship seeking God. It is through Bible readings, music, thought-provoking messages, prayers, and in the bread and wine of communion that we encounter Christ and are renewed.
All worship services invite you to come as you are (no dress code)
and to participate in Holy Communion.

Traditional Liturgical Worship: 8:30 am
This service has traditional hymns, organ or piano music, and uses the Lutheran Book of Worship and a traditional worship structure. Communion is shared at the altar with individual bread and cups. Gluten free bread is available.
Children are welcome at this service, too!
A special time and message are provided for them.  Younger children are also welcome to visit our nursery.
While "traditional," this service is by no means "stuffy."

Contemporary Praise Service: 10:00 am
This service features an amplified praise band (guitars, drums, song leaders), contemporary songs, and a more casual feel with the same Bible verses and sermon as the traditional service. Communion is shared by intinction (dipping the bread into the wine or grape juice).
Gluten free bread is available.
Children are always welcome in worship and a special time and message are provided for them. Younger children are also welcome to visit our nursery with their parents.

Both services follow the format of Gathering, Word, Meal and Sending - see below - and include music, scripture, a message and fellowship.
Our nursery is open for you during all worship services.
Children are always welcome in worship, whether wiggly or calm!

WHAT IS LUTHERAN WORSHIP LIKE?
Lutheran worship typically uses the following format:

Gathering

During the opening part of worship, we offer a song, a greeting through scripture, and also a welcoming word.  We confess our sins, along with our brothers and sisters, and we are offered forgiveness.  We also pray a Prayer of the Day together.  This part of the service can be brief or extended, depending on the time in the church year.

Word

Here, we listen to the word of God.  The first reading typically comes from the Old Testament.  Next, we read a Psalm responsively.  The second reading comes from the New Testament.  Next, the Gospel is read, from the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John.  After the Gospel, the pastor or guest preacher delivers a message reflective of the readings for the day.  The Word also includes the prayers of the people.

Meal

During the Meal, we come together as a community to thank God for the sacrifice he made in Christ and share in the Communion meal.
We hear Christ's words of institution and say the Lord's Prayer.  We come together at the altar to share in the body and blood of Christ.

Sending

At this point in worship, we are commissioned to "go in Christ" in love and service through a benediction and sending hymn or song.
"We are called to love God, love one another, grow in Christ, and go in Christ."
