Worship Music Leader I grew up mostly in Philadelphia. I've been playing in bands of various kinds for the last twenty-five years. I studied arranging and composition at Berklee College of Music. Before coming to Peace Lutheran, I was the music leader at Church of the Cross in Charlottesville. I'm always seeking new ways of bringing together the ancient and the new in music and worship. It has been an incredible blessing for my family and myself being welcomed into fellowship at Peace Lutheran. Responsibilities: Lead Praise Bands and vocalists; worship design participant; music selection; worship order & bulletin. |
| Director of Discipleship I grew up the daughter of a Church of the Brethren minister, and am surprised, awed and humbled by the fact that I am now working in a church! My passion is building and equipping teams of people who can create and deliver programming that strengthens our congregation and our families to nurture and pass on faith. I have been a member of Peace for 8 years, and have been team leader of the Children and Family Ministry Team for 3+ years. I am a wife to Jim, and mother to three sons, Sean, Ryan, and Dylan. When I am not at church, you can find me at the grocery store. It is a blessing and a privilege to serve in this congregation. Responsibilities: Development of discipleship paths for adults, youth and children. Oversight for all educational opportunities and the congregational discipleship process. |

Organist When I sit at the organ and play a well-known Bach chorale or fugue, I sit back and say, "That was really beautiful," and I pat myself on the back for managing to play the complex music accurately. But, when I play, and we sing a hymn, anthem or praise song with a message that touches someone's heart, that's when I sit back and say, "With God's help, we did it right." I've had the joy of being a choirmaster, organist and keyboardist for more than 30-years now, and if I've learned one thing, it's this: You can do all the concerts, cantatas, and special music you want. You can be simple or sophisticated, but for a music ministry to be successful, everything we play and sing (classical or contemporary), must be a tool to share God's Word. The way to accomplish that is to open our hearts and our music ministry to the leadership of the Holy Spirit. My ministry is to share God's love and God's Word through music, and it's one of the best jobs in the world. Responsibilities: Organist and keyboardist for worship. |
| Youth Ministry Leader I grew up in Roanoke, VA and was actively involved in the Lutheran church where my dad was pastor. Youth group and youth events were a huge influence on my life, and I have already passed on that excitement by serving as adult leadership for several Synod-wide youth events. I look forward to working with the youth and growing in Christ together. Responsibilities: Help to create a youth ministry that embraces the marks of discipleship. Develop relationships with youth. Build the senior high into a group. Assist in the development of the middle school youth group. |
