We follow the Revised Common Lectionary in our worship services at Peace. Scripture and messages share the story of God’s love in worship.

A special children’s time during both worship services: Preschool and early elementary students start in worship, then depart for age-appropriate discussion and activities while the adults hear the sermon. The children will return for communion and the remainder of the service.
Fun and Learning Groups for our Fourth and Fifth Graders, Middle Schoolers, Confirmation students, and High School Youth: Each group meets during the week for service activities, meals, games, learning and fellowship during the program year. Many youth also participate in summer mission trips and Virginia ELCA Synod sponsored weekends designed just for them. Contact Jennie Carter, Director of Youth Ministry for more information, or visit our Youth Ministry Page.
Opportunities for adult/family fellowship after worship: Throughout Sunday morning there will be opportunities for small group gatherings (brunch, anyone?) to discuss the day's scripture or to simply gather for fellowship. Discussion questions will be provided or you can let the discussion take you where it will. Weekday and evening Bible and book studies are held at various times during the week and all are welcome to join.

BUILDING PEACE, a monthly activity-based Christian education program for all ages. BUILDING PEACE generally meets on the second Sunday afternoon of each month and wraps up with a shared meal. Learn more here.

Confirmation is not the beginning or the end of the faith journey. Confirmation is about preparing one's heart and making disciples.
Peace Lutheran's confirmation class will be held twice a month (as part of the youth group) on Monday evenings from 6:30-8:30pm using the Colaborate Lutheran Confirmation curriculum from Spark House. Colaborate allows the youth to wrestle with the tension of Biblical truths and where/how to apply to their daily living. It gives each youth the space to start thinking about what they believe and why they believe it, providing the tools and language they need to do so. Each class starts with framing the problem, video, infographics and utilizes physical activity, while building lasting and caring relationships at church. Our goal is to take the knowledge of the faith from the head to the heart where Christ can dwell, sustaining the students through the highs and lows of life. This will be done in a large/small group rhythm, and is designed to be relevant to the lives of today’s teens.
Our large group time includes skits, games, and Bible time, along with the Pastor’s/Leader's teaching. (And a few creative interruptions to keep the kids guessing!) Large group time closes with a quiet wrap-up of the theme and a prayer/imagination journey.
Following large group time, small groups (a handful of kids each with an adult mentor) spread out in the church. They share their highs and lows of the previous week, and talk about what they heard in large group via discussion questions. These questions allow students to grapple with how the theme applies in their daily lives. For more information about our Confirmation program, contact Jennie Carter.
