Adult Discipleship Ministry team

Learning Together - Grow in Christ

Mission
To connect people in community centered in the Word so that they may grow in Christ and go in Christ. This reminds us to center our programming around the Gospel. We included the “grow in Christ” and “go in Christ” phrases from our mission statement as a guiding reminder that the goal of learning is not more knowledge, but for service to God, for transformation.

Values
We value community, and we recognize that, most often, spiritual growth and transformation occurs within the framework of accountable relationships.

Current Ministry Recruitment Needs
We would love to have people interested in serving on the Adult Discipleship Team. Specifically, we are looking for people who would like to facilitate (or learn to facilitate) small group book studies. Previous triad or small group experience would be helpful, but not essential. We are also seeking people relatively new to Peace to help give a fresh perspective on our adult education offering. On our ministry team, we would welcome people who have enjoyed being in different small groups, as well as people who have not yet been in a small group due to lack of interest in previous groups offered.

Team Member Roles
Team facilitator, researchers, facilitators, communication/publicity.

Responsibilities
Help facilitate learning and small group experiences where people can grow in faith and as disciples of Christ. First of all, we evaluate our Adult Educational programming needs using the Marks of Discipleship as a guide. We try to plan and facilitate classes and book studies along these six “marks”,as we attempt to grow disciples. We try to provide a balance of Sunday morning, mid week day and evening classes in order to meet the needs of our busy congregation. Second, we are in the process of evaluating all of our triads and other small group opportunities, and are discerning where effective “connections” are occurring – and where we need to provide additional small group experiences. We work in consort with the Worship Design Team.

Time Commitment
Generally 2 meetings per month.

Gifts/Expertise Needed
Previous small group and/or triad experience is helpful, but not required! Adult
